Meet the Team

  • Sarah Scammell

Beginning to ride almost before she could walk, Sarah’s love for horses started at a very young age. Growing up on a horse property gave her the opportunity to learn to ride on various types of horses. Being a gutsy kid who much preferred bareback riding and jumping hay bales, it was no surprise that she was destined for eventing. Sarah went on to experience many successes in the sport and completed her first Australian International Horse Trials in Adelaide at the age of 18. In more recent years Sarah has focused on breaking and training homebred youngsters that are currently making their competition debut. Sarah is passionate and hard working and is looking to build a competitive team of horses and owners to pursue the heights of this sport.

  • Miriam Ashcroft

Miriam is where it all started. Being horse mad but not having grown up in a horsey family, it wasn’t until her 20s that she was able to realise her lifelong dream of owning her own horse. Soon after, along with husband John and their two young girls, they took the plunge and bought a 30 acre blank canvas in the Adelaide Hills. Slowly they worked to develop the property into the now established Ashbrook Field. Miriam was the catalyst of Sarah’s journey into eventing and the two of them make a great team. She is passionate about the welfare and management of the horses and leaves no stone unturned.

  • Robert Scammell

Being married to Sarah, Rob’s destiny with horses was somewhat inevitable. Having previous experience in animal husbandry and farm management, Rob took to horses very quickly. Learning to ride on a young OTT thoroughbred, Rob already has his sights set on making his debut into the eventing world.

  • John Ashcroft

Having no interest in horses whatsoever, John has remarkably been a huge support of both Miriam and Sarah’s dreams. Building Ashbrook Field with Miriam from the ground up, John is hard working and loves to see the property enjoyed by those around him. You will often see John tinkering in his tool shed, driving his tractor or likely sitting on the deck with a beer and some mates.
